Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony flipbook preview

Not much news to report on Chloë of late. However, The Pipeline has a preview of the Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony flipbook, featuring collection promo footage of Chloë as photographed by Mark Borthwick. From The Pipeline:

Ever the busy bee, Chloë Sevigny has just finished up her latest project—a photobook for her Opening Ceremony Spring/Summer ‘08 collection. Curated by Sevigny and shot by photographer Mark Borthwick, the book features a slew of interactive photos of Sevigny dolled up her latest creations (many inspired by her high-school style icons). Mixed with the shots of a gingham-and-floral-bedecked Sevigny are transparencies and illustrations by artists including Marika Thunder, Rita Ackerman, and Lizzie Bougatsos, creating a fun little flipbook that lets you make images of the already strange and ethereal actress even more strange and ethereal.

Sounds pretty cool to me! The Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony photobook is available for $65 at Opening Ceremony.

Not much news to report today, but I thought I’d post this lovely little mention actress and Big Love co-star Amanda Seyfried makes of Chloë’s Opening Ceremony line in Teen Vogue. From TheBosh.com:

Just like other girls, Amanda notes her physical insecurities, though they have never caused her to shy away from fashion. Citing a penchant for great jeans and dresses, Amanda credits Miu Miu and Opening Ceremony by Chloë Sevigny among her favorite labels. Though she professes a love for fashion, individuality is always Amanda’s first inspiration. “I have my own sense of style. I don’t necessarily copy anybody to the T.”

Earlier this week I discovered some amazing new Chloë scans and photos thanks to the good people at The Fashion Spot. Ever since, I’ve been trying to track down which magazine these scans belong to in order to properly post them on the site, and I believe I have: the Libération Next (Fr) website features a French-language article on Chloë with the aforementioned photos, posted on March 11 2008.

Personally, I think these are some fabulous photos of Chloë and definitely worth a look. You’ll notice she is wearing pieces from her Opening Ceremony collection in some of the photos. Enjoy!

First off, I want to give a special thank you to anyone and everyone who has of late sent in Chloë Sevigny-material; it is most appreciated. I will go through all contributions as soon as I can; however, I am currently out of town, which makes updating rather difficult for me. Please be patient! Thank you.

Onto today’s update. Most Chloë fans will surely have noticed she has gotten a lot of magazine coverage of late, and I am pleased to announce there is more. Lux lisbon at The Fashion Spot was kind enough to post some scans of an amazing Chloë in the Spring/Summer 2008 issue of Very Elle (Fr). You’ll find a preview of the cover (featuring model Amber Valletta) to your right.

The photoshoot is brand new and nothing short of gorgeous; you will notice she is wearing outfits from her Opening Ceremony collection. Unfortunately, I’m probably unable to get this issue in my country, so better-res scans would be most appreciated — please do not hesitate to get in touch if you can provide us with some. Thank you!

Yesss! As earlier reported (or speculated, rather), Chloë is indeed on the cover of U.S. fashion mag Nylon April 2008 issue with her two other Chloé fragrance spokesmodels Anja Rubik and Clémence Poésy. NylonMag.com has a small preview of the cover and inside photos. From NylonMag.com:

The three lithe blondes were shot during New York Fashion Week in Brooklyn, with Chloe discussing her movies and her Opening Ceremony line, Anja explaining she grew up in Poland / Greece / Paris / Canada, and that she was once terrified of Kate Moss.

But to get the full story, there’s only one way: Get your copy of April’s NYLON, and read the whole thing… though if you stay tuned to nylonmag.com, we will have some more photo outtakes, and of course, a special NYLON TV episode all about our cover babes..

Scans will of course be added as soon as the issue reaches my country. And do keep an eye on NylonMag.com in case they add more Chloë material from the new shoot. Meanwhile, enjoy these small previews of the upcoming issue of Nylon! Personally, I am so excited for this edition; next to BlackBook, Nylon is my favorite fashion mag, and Chloë’s been on the cover of both this year!

I have even more scans for you today, as promised. The ever wonderful Andrew recently sent in 6 fabulous scans of a beautiful Chloë in the March 2008 issue of i-D magazine (featuring Raquel Zimmermann on the cover). You’ll notice Chloë is once again wearing designs from her own collection for Opening Ceremony.

Furthermore, I would like to remind you all that Chloë’s style column for Elle (UK), “Ask Chloë”, is again featured in the April 2008 issue of the magazine (with actress Kate Hudson on the cover). Scans coming up!

The wonderful Andrew has been treating me with some fabulous scans of Chloë’s recent magazine features over the month, and it’s high time I shared some of these you. I have more still to post later this week, so stay tuned.

Kicking off the week’s scan updates with Chloë’s features in Vanity Fair April 2008 and He Magazine January 2008. Vanity Fair features Chloë briefly in their “In Character” segment, in which Chloë is given three situations to express facially. It’s the most adorable little feature, I highly recommend checking it out!

Second off is a brand new Chloë photo spread in the January 2008 issue of He Magazine. I don’t know if the issue is still available in stores since it is an early 2008 release, however, if you’re interested you can preview the entire issue at He-Magazine.com. For those who are only interested in the Chloë feature, we have 6 fabulous hi-res scans of the issue for you, once again thanks to Andrew. You’ll notice she is modeling designs from her Opening Ceremony collection in the shoot. The issue furthermore contains a small fashion-oriented interview with Chloë.

Finally we have a proper first look at Chloë’s Opening Ceremony collection, which debuted at the New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in early February. FabSugar has an exclusive sneak peak at the collection’s 16 looks, naturally modeled by Chloë herself, which is definitely worth a look.

The collection itself seems to me set to divide people into two opposing camps, but fans familiar with Chloë’s fashion sense will notice she’s been very true to her playful, quirky style. Here’s what the people at FabSugar had to say about the clothesline:

It’s mostly eccentric, but did we expect anything else from the quirky actress? I’m talking gingham, florals, and fun frocks — with an early ’90s reference. I’d definitely wear individual pieces, though in a slightly more polished way.

Update: The entire collection lookbook is now available in PDF format at OpeningCeremony.us!

  • Chloë in ‘The Guardian’ February issue

Believe it or not, but I have news of yet another Chloë magazine feature. UK magazine The Guardian recently sat down with Chloë for an interview regarding her Opening Ceremony clothing line, fashion and Big Love for their February 16 2008 issue. She furthermore shot a beautiful photoshoot for the issue, which will be added to our upcoming, new gallery. Read the interview in its entirety at TheGuardian.co.uk, here’s an excerpt:

Earlier that day, over lunch, she is frank about her disdain for the lucrative modelling gigs - Miu Miu, Dolce & Gabbana, H&M - that not only pay her bills but could also settle those of most of her East Village neighbours. “The shoots can go on, like, for ever,” she complains, sinking a fork into her salmon terrine. She used to worry that modelling diminished her as an actor in people’s eyes, “but the lines are blurred now. Look at Charlize Theron - she’s done so many ads.” I ask if there isn’t a side to modelling that makes her uncomfortable. “Oh, like the selling out, you mean?” She gives a wheezy, high-pitched laugh that sounds like a tent being unzipped at high speed. “Yeah, that’s not so much fun. But fashion is a good way for me to make a living. I couldn’t survive just doing independent movies. And I’d rather do modelling than movies or TV I didn’t like.”

She is in good spirits, but there’s a restlessness just below the surface. She seems unduly bothered by a waitress’s orange shirt. “What is this, Guantánamo Bay?” she splutters. Another server asks if we need anything. “Wow, she has a funny voice,” she says when the woman is out of earshot. Even a compliment proves equivocal. “They’re very helpful here.” Pause. “A little overhelpful.”
